So it might be a newbie question but i saw a carbon fiber convertible top for the s2000 what about us spyder guys anything ever in the talks about making one? even if it's not carbon?:dsm:

I dont really want the hard top conversion as much as I want the two seater conversion. But thats a whole other thread.

well like the title states im looking to see if anyone has one or knows of anybody that has made them or sells them i think that would be pretty sick to see one hell they have everything else why not a conv top and it would be great to avoid a cage at the track when you go they wont bug you lmk what you think mabe we should contact a vendor to design one

No campany makes them, you'd need to make a fiberglass mock up of one (there is a thread on here somewhere) and lay a c/f weave on it yourself. And I hope your kidding about the track not bothering you because of a fiberglass top, if you run under 11.99 you need a role cage no matter what.

It's actually more of a pain in the ass for convertible guys because you actually have to have the roll cage go above the seats and be at a certain height above your head.

Well wouldnt you want it to extend above your seats and a certain point over your head? Any track legal cage is going to have to be. Gixxerdrew has a beautiful cage setup on that spyder. Im not looking to bring mine to the track but I'd love to have the added safety of the cage.

Here is the link to that thread btw:

Why not just wear a helmet? I know here in florida at the track i go to, if your a convertable then you must have a helmet no matter how fast or slow you are. But i think a roll cage in a convertable is actually pretty nice looking. Thats coming from a guy that has seen a couple of vert 5.0L mustangs run at the track with roll cages, i must say quite nice :sneaky:

I don't know about that. All the tracks I've been to in the tri-state area doesn't allow you on the track without a helmet whether your in a convertible or not. Reason you need a roll cage at a certain height above your head or seat is in case your car decides to flip over and crush your neck.

he is correct im from sarasota fl just below tpa and the track i went to i was running 12.99 in my old probe and they didnt reqire anything it just depends on the track and weather they follow nhra rules or not

I ran my spyder a few years back at Virginia Motorsports Park and was not required to wear a helmet. As for the cage, I wasn't running a fast enough time to warrant one.

well i was just asking cause im looking at a 97 with a rag top well if i end up with it i will be makinga hard top for it not like the guy mad in the link posted above that doesnt look good at all i want it to look kinda like the delsol hard tops but with the back seat

As I stated earlier a hardtop at the track makes no difference, if your running faster than 11.99 you must have a cage so discussion about that is pointless. A c/f hardtop for a spyder would only be for looks. As for me I'll keep my vert top the way it is, if I wanted a hardtop eclipse I would have bought one
