Hi I want to convert my 2g esi automatic with a 1g turbo engine. would this be too much for my transmission. And if it is would a shift kit help and do they make shift kits for my car? Will this task be easy. I can pay a guy 200 bucks to do a engine swap for me.

You will need to do some reading on putting a turbo on a 420a. The 4g63 2.0 and the 420a 2.0 are completely backwards from each other. It would be more work on you or your mechanic than on your tranny. like I said in your other thread, it is possible to turbo a 420a but you need to read into everything you will need to upgrade first.

$200 that sounds like a real good deal OMG but why keep the automatic? You do know chicks dig guys who can drive standreds. :thumb: It gives you a chance to teach them how to drive it. :p

But as already stated! (I sense the sarcasm don't worry, just trying to get across the the poster). The transmission won't mate to the 4G63 correctly, and if you did somehow, it would be completely ass backwards. I don't see it happening for $200...

HAHAHA N.C. that's a good line!

It's cheaper to buy an DSM that has those features that you want rather than wasting someones time and your money to redo some design that bassackwards to begin with. Look at the way a 1G engine sits and look at the 2G's engine compartment. They are completely different, note that the looks in the 2 different body styles which are also a dead give away. It's just cheaper to buy a DSM that has what you want. $200.00 is a good deal but somethings are too good to be true. Normally any engine swap would run in that ballpark figure. But your talking about swapping and engine out with a completely different wiring harness, ecm, grounds, sensors, etc. You also have to account for allot of extra nuts bolts. brackets, custom mounts etc. that you will need to buy. As for the for the shifter you'll have to find someone that can make you some custom cables or try to find a cable that has a proper length. Very little of the parts if any interchange for the different for the 2 vehicles, 1G and 2G's so you have allot of work to get in ordering and finding out what parts you need. The task at hand would be like a monkey trying to mate with a basketball. IT just won't work!
But if you try hard enough you just may complete your objective. Your looking at allot of time plus not to mention allot of $$$$ for that kind of engine and trans swap. :talon:

Youll need a completely new tranny. 420A's are 7 bolts and the 4g63t is a 6 bolt. And as stated above they are completely backwards from eachother. Unless your planning on doing alot of modding and gaining alot of HP I would stick with the 420A and maybe port and polish it. It will be alot of money and time to swap the 4g63T but it can and has been done by quite a few people. If your serious about doing it PM me and ill tell you who to talk to about it.
