Confused about what to do to the ecu to be able to use dsm link?

Ok iv herd lots about needing a 1995 talon/eclipes ecu to work with the dsm link. But i still dont understand, i here "socketing" and "eprom" alot, i do have a 95 talon but what else do i have to do to be able to use a dsm link to tune? I would Vfaq but im not sure where to look ither. Lol this probly is such a dumb question so im sorry in advance .

If you have a 1g ecu they can for $135. In his case since he has a 2g he just has to get his eprom ecu socketed, so the ecmlink chip can be installed.

Your 95 should have an EPROM ecu already. In this case you need to send your ECU to the guys at ECMlink to socket the ECU ($25 when purchasing ECMlink) and they will install the chip as well. Easy as that.

Turn your caps lock off. And that doesn't help explain what socketing is either.

Your 95 Talon should have an ECU that is equipped with what is called an Eprom ECU. The Eprom is an erasable/rewritable chip, as opposed to one that cannot be re-programmed. Now, it's soldered into the circuit board. To install the DSMLink chip, you would need to de-solder that chip and remove it. To make things easier the next time, they solder in a chip socket, so the Eprom chip can be removed easily. ECMTuning will do this for you if you opt for it in the DSMLink package that you buy.
