Confused about ICP

Ok it says in multiple tuning guides that replacing the uicp and licp will help gain horsepower, but later they say adding a front mount will be needed for a lot of setups. If you buy a front mount kit, doesnt that include a uicp and a licp and wouldn't buying new pipes and then a front mount kit be redundant (and therefore a waste of money), or am I misunderstanding something?
 
You got it right. Replacing the upper IC pipe is a good mod if you don't plan to replace your side mount IC anytime soon. Some front mount IC's come with plumbing and hardware for specific applications. Many less expensive IC's come with nothing and you have to source or fabricate your own plumbing.
