Do I need to put rtv or some kind of sealent down when torquing the j pipe back down onto it?
im preety sure i do...can anyone point me in the direction of which color or a link to a brand name?

There is an actual gasket for the j pipe if you want to use one (I would use a gasket personally). Permatex for a sealant brand.

i know about the gasket just bought OEM one..

q was about the sealent

thanks 4 answers and sorry for confusion

is the permatex copper color good or should i get red (copper is good untill 700degrees

The gasket is providing the seal required, otherwise it would be pointless to use a gasket. If you truly wanted to use sealant on there as well, put a VERY THIN layer on each side of the gasket.
