I bought the EVO III Big 16g and the gasket that came with my kit was too small...after taking the sh*t a** t25 off i had to go to work while my friend put the turbo on (he is a mechanic). he said the gasket was too small on the exhaust mani or the exhaust pipe..one of the two obviously...anyway my question is will this hurt anything besides the airflow and performance? thx :dsm:

Hurting anything besides airflow & performance WTF , I think those two things are pretty important themselves :D I would also imagine there would be a chance of damaging thew gasket faster as it would be more likely to crack at the areas that are smaller then the diameter of the turbo/mani holes.

i checked with my friend, i was mistaken. he said it was the exhaust downpipe hole that was too small. guess that means i am just going to have to get a turbo back exhaust...d*mn. LOL....yeah performance is VERY important, but damage is more important. :dsm:

From my personal experience a couple weeks ago, i got a hold of 2 ex manifold-turbo gaskets. They were both 6cm gaskets. First i put the new gasket up against a spare 14b i have laying around. The gaskets hole was a lot smaller then the gasket that was originally on my car. i put that smaller gasket on anyways and noticed a good amount of power loss throughtout the whole power band. My turbo now takes longer to spool as well.

So to answer your question, that smaller gasket did hurt me quite a bit. Im gunna order a new 7cm turbo-manifold gasket soon, im tired of not having any power.

If you knew it was too small, why didn't you dremel it to the right size before you installed it. It is especially important because it's the manifold to turbo gasket, think about all the turbulence and lost of velocity.

I feel offended by your comment.

I didnt dremel out the gasket because first of all, i dont have a dremel, or an attachment strong enough to grind off the metal,

second of all, I live way out in the country, no autoparts stores near me even carry that 7cm gasket, im in the process of ordering one online. This 6cm gasket was just a temporary gasket because i drive my car every day, and didnt want to try and run my car without a gasket.

3rd, a 6cm gasket gasket would technically be better then no gasket at all, wouldn't it?

4th of all, i dont believe in jimmy-riggin' gaskets to make em bigger/smaller.

plus, i dont see why dremeling that gasket would benefit me, the turbo-manifold gasket is made up of layers of metal. the inner hole has a metal seal all around it, if i dremel that seal apart to make the hole bigger, the metal layers would be exposed and in no time, i would need another gasket. Thats what happened to the original gasket that was there when i purchased my red talon tsi awd.

you should take a look at the 6cm turbo-manifold gasket sometime, then run back on the computer and post your opinions/badmouthing.

Sorry I was unable to read your mind.

Same as above.

No, neither would be acceptable.

You have obviously never heard or seen a solid 1/8" or 1/4" thick SS 6 or 7 cm gasket.

I feel offended by your comment.
There are many things in life to get offended by, this is definitely not one of them. If you search around you would know that I speak my mind on the subject at hand and it's never personal. If I came off a little too strong and you got offended, my sincerely apologies. Now that get back on topic.
