Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone ever had similar results as I do:
Engine at operating temp, throttle plate open:

dry: 180 psi across the board
wet, with capful of oil and ~3 min to let fall down the cylinder: 270 across the board

Anyone ever have this big of a jump from dry and wet? Can all my rings be that consistently worn out?

The compression is going to go up regardless if the engine is perfect or has bad rings. The oil will sit on top of the piston in the dish. This technically creates a higher compression ratio since there is less space to fill.

Ummm, 180 is good compression, so you might have added a little too much oil to get those high numbers.

Yea those numbers are fudged. Everyone has their own way of doing a comp. test, but the way i was taught was to start the car and idle it until the motor is up to temp. After that, pull one plug and pull the mpi fuse and start the engine cranking about 6-9 seconds. Then report back with a true realistic compression ratio. Guaranteed it goes down a lot.
