my friend stripped his oil pan bolt thing that you take off for oil changes because he used the wrong size wrench and was being ignorant, how can it be taken off? he already bought a replacement for it, just need to switch

I done the same thing on a tranny bolt .. all I did was hammer on a size smaller wrench or socket and then have at it.

That's the cheapest way to do it. There are also sockets made specifically for stripped bolts.

If all else fails, the lube shop I used to work at sent people with bolts like that to a mechanic or welder who would weld another bolt head or a t-bar onto it to get more grip so you could pull it.

__________ <-- piece of bar
....... l <-- vertical bar
....... l
..[=====] <-- rounded bolt
-------------- <-- pan

Just have them make sure there is enough clearance to turn it! He'll want to take the drain plug with him so he can change the oil ASAP. Wouldn't want to catch that on a bump and rip the bottom of the pan out. :notgood:

Turbo Sockets. They can be pricey but one of the most helpful tools i have in my box. A pipe wrench or pounding on a smaller size like suggested should be just fine.

another way would be to take a hack saw and cut a slice all the way across the middle and use a flat screwdriver bit on a socket thing, or weld something on there like said before
