im about to buy a 90 talon tsi from a guy, well its already a done deal he is just gonna keep the car until his car gets outa the shop, cuz he has to have a means of getting to work... ok well he says the turbo blew about 30k miles ago so he had it replaced with a larger one, a 16g, i couldnt tell which model it was all i saw was TD05H... anyways i noticed that it felt more powerfull than previous 14b's that i have driven...

would simply adding a larger turbo to a completely stock car(besides k&n filter) actually give me more power even though set at the same psi?
 
PSI doesn't mean a set airflow level. Different turbos will flow different amounts of air at the same pressure levels. So yes, a 16g will flow more than a 14b at the same psi. More air + more fuel = more power.
 
watch out for fuel cut. dont be worried when your on it an it feels like youu hit a brick wall......damn 1st gens :dsm:
 
fuel cut? doesnt that happen when u reach the governed speed limit? or at rev limit?

DSM required info. Read everything.

From my experience,a 16g on a otherwise bone stock car will not provide any noticeable gains.

A 14b is a easy 12 second turbo,the 16g doesnt really show its advantage until exhaust,more effecient IC and pipes,fuel and tuning mods are introduced.

Getting the car with a 16g already on is a nice bonus though! :thumb:
