I originally was planning on buying the EVO III 16G, but have decided that I might as well go bigger now than later. :thumbdown

My plan right now is to keep my stock exhaust manifold and 02 housing. I will be replacing my downpipe and cat with Bushur 2.5 SS dp and high flow cat.

I currently have a TurboXS H-34 Racing BOV, Dejon Tool UIC, K&N open, TurboXS HPBC @ 14psi.

I'd like to install this turbo:

http://www.dejontool.com/Turbos.htm

New! Garrett T4 series turbos built by Precison Turbo & Engine with their Mitsu style turbine housing bolt up to your stock DSM exhaust manifold and O2 housing. Comes complete with internal wastegate and high boost actuator (17psi & up). Compressor inlet diameter is 3 1/8". will fit 3" or 3 1/2" intake pipes. Requires oil kit which fits all years and NT water pipe for 89-94 cars - see below Price includes extra shipping cost (you pay only $7at checkout) Models in stock do not fit O2 "dump tube exhausts because web section is removed.
"dump tube" models are available special order. 12 month or 12,000mi warranty by Mfg.

What do you think? All comments are appreciated. :thumb:

EDIT: Also, is it okay to upgrade the turbo without upgrading the exhaust mani and 02 housing? Will I have to upgrade fuel components with this turbo?

If you keep the boost down you really dont need to upgrade your fuel sys. But with that big a turbo it would just be retarded to not upgrade. Look at the T4 vs 20g, The T4 can eat a 20g, definetily not a turbo for the faint of heart.

I believe being internally gated with a 17psi actuator means you will not be able to run lower that 17psi, correct me if I'm wrong.

17psi on that turbo would eat the stock fuel system for lunch. And for exhaust, I'd go with a 2g ported manifold.

If your going to get a 50-trim why only go with a 2.5 inch dp??

Lets just say this your far from a turbo upgrade. Get all your supporting mods first.

Don't get a 50 trim. You're not ready. Get every supporting mod and then a 16g. If thats not fast enough for you (it will be) then get a 50 trim.

Great input. Just what I needed. I was torn here, because I am coming into some cash and was debating on doing the following:

Option 1:
EVO III 16G
EVO Exhaust Manifold
EVO 02 housing
2.5 DP
2.5 High Flow Cat
190lp fuel pump

Option 2:
BIG OLD TURBO

I'm not too familiar with all the turbo options and what supporting mods are needed for them above a 16G, so I'm glad you all are educating me. My way of thinking was that maybe just getting the bigger turbo would make up for all the things in Option 1. I am probably incorrect.

First, ask yourself the question. WHY are you considering a bigger turbo? Obviously, a 16g or even a 20g hasnt even exhausted your needs yet.

90% of the people out there THINK they need a bigger turbo to go faster. Are they blind to the fact that 14b's and small 16g's are going 11's? Think of what an evoIII 16g could do.

Get yourself an evoIII 16g, kick some nuts in, go fast. grab a beer. call it a day.

Thats all about tuning. People think you can slap this and that on and expect it to still run perfectly. You cannot emphasize proper tuning enough.

Exactly. that further clarifies my point.

utilization of current equipment is a wonderful thing. Ever seen a car with a big turbo and no supporting mods? its ugly. inneffcient. and even civics stand a chance.

With all supporting mods, it is easier to put down bigger numbers with a bigger turbo though. I would love to see a dyno sheet for a car running 11's on a 14b. I wonder how much whp those cars can throw down?

I'm going with Option 1, then maybe as I enter into my stage 2 upgrade path, I'll swing by and get those 550's from the TSIGuy ;).

You know, everyone wants a big old turbo. I was really thinking that eventually I want to run something bigger, and rather than spend the 540 or so on the 16G, and then 1000 or more later for a larger turbo, I'd just get the larger turbo now. But you have cured me of those grand ideas for a big fat turbo!

Dont know.

Probably not much over 320 or so, right?

I think people with stock or 16g turbo's running 11's are also *GREAT* drivers. yes, a big 60-2 turbo with 880cc injectors, Supra TT Fuel pump, and all other huge supporting mods is going to throw down big dyno numbers, but can it be driven properly?

I think that power can only take you so far on your quest for a low, low time slip. Just my .02 though ;)
