Cold Weather Causes Grinding?

Hey guys quick question.. When its cold out and i start driving the first few times that i have to shift from 1st to 2nd its real stiff and it almost grinds but its not grinding the gear box like if u didnt have the clutch in all the way. it just seems like its grinding halfway between 1st and 2nd but only when its cold if i drive the car for 10 minutes it goes away..

is this common
is it going to hurt the car in the longrun.

How thick is your tranny fluid?

i dont know if it will hurt the car, but tell me if it does. (i have a auto, so i cant help) i like to start my day off by running a few laps around the neighborhood, and my belts like to squeek...loud. but as for grinding, theres none of that.

i dont know exactly how thick it is but would it matter? It only happens when its cold out

Check the levels and if its low then dump some in there. If not then flush that bad boy.

manual or auto transaxle? if manual, change fluid with 75 - 90 gear oil (what i run) if auto then check fluid level and if dirty, flush or have serviced. try to let the car warm up a few minutes before you take off in the mornings, it will cause less problem in the long run.

Try switching gear lube to Pennzoil Synchromesh.
