coilpack woes

i got on my car hard today from a stop(roasted tired all through 1st gear) and it started missing real bad. i limped home (about 1 mile) and smoke was comming from my cat or somewhere under my car. so i played with the wires and plugs for a while no dice. my compression gauge is broken (wont hold pressure) but the needle moves on all cylinders. then i go and play with the coil pack harness and it starts up just fine no miss. i rev it up a few times and perfect. so me being the dumbazz that i am i wanted to See if i could make it miss again just to make sure its the harness so i wiggle it a little and it starts to miss. now i cant get to run without missing. i think # 4 cl. is not firing. i pulled it and it was wet. fuel i think. has anyone had this problem before?

I'd just replace the coil pack. If you know the wires are all good to/from the thing, you might as well toss that one. It's only about $70 for the MSD (ERT) or Screamin' Demon (AFX).

upon futher examination i found that my hack job of swapping pig tail harnesses for the coil pack (flat to round) one of the connections came loose. so i reconnected it and it worked fine. i think the harness for the coil pack got caught on the tb and got pulled apart. thanks again dr. hows the megasquirt working?
