I've put about 2k miles on this car. The previous owner had an aftermarket clutch installed. I've got the reciept for it and the professional install, if its brand is needed i can do some digging and find it. I know because its aftermarket its going to be stiffer, but this thing is rock solid all the way through the pedal. It never "breaks over". I've never felt an aftermarket clutch It shifts fine in all gears, engages and disengages fine. Just wondering if this is typical with an aftermarket clutch, and if I can adjust it.

It's a 98 gsx stock 7bolt with 120k miles.

Thanks,

Dylan

Yeah, dig up the brand and model or it. Pedal pressure depends on how the clutch was made and how much torque it was made to hold. Some clutches, such as the ACT 2600, are simply more stiff on your leg due to the way it was designed.

And there's also modifications a person can to to further increase felt pedal pressure, but I highly doubt that has anything to do with what you're experiencing.

I have had many clutch's, Here are my 2 favorites. Centerforce dual friction, this one is a little stiffer than stock and will take a ton of abuse. Then Spec stage 2 or stage 3+, the stage 2 has a lighter than stock pedal feel and will hold quite alot of power. The stage 3+ also has a lighter than stock feel but engagement is a little harsh.

alright well i did some digging, found the old recipet the guy gave me with the car, at 106k a stage 2 fiber lining clutch assy was installed? It also says the flywheel was resurfaced. From what i can see, the clutch was $280.

yeah im not too worried about it, it works just fine, it just never breaks over, its firm all the way through the pedal, unlike oem clutches. Is that typcial with aftermarket clutches?

you've already asked that and it's been answered. Depends on what clutch it is. They are all made different. Once you find the receipt with the brand and clutch then we should be able to tell you.

Yes, it's very typical for most any aftermarket clutch to have much more pedal pressure than a stock clutch.

Sorry i must have missed it, ive never owned an aftermarket one, and nobody i know has ever felt one, just making sure it's fine, but thanks :p

i also like a stiffer clutch. But yes most higher holding capacity clutches are stiffer. My budys mustang has a king cobra clutch in it and that thing is a beast to push down.
