420A Clutch switch and key not working

Hey guys have a 99 eclipse gs with the 420a 2.0. Recently put the engine in and transmission. Tried starting it but when turning the key nothing happened.

( keep in mind I never heard or had this car running before I took the engine out)

Anyways I used a screw driver on the starter and the engine turns over. But no spark. Which I’m guessing is because of my key. There’s no sound or nothing.

Also there’s not a clutch switch and I can’t find the wire that plugged into it. Did the previous owner bypass it and did he do it properly? I have no idea and I hope he did.

Also got this venom400 ecu thingie and have the harness to it but it’s half bad and no idea if it has any affect.

This is my first eclipse and I’m kinda in a hole currently.

Any help with any of the problems I listed would be great. Thanks guys!

I'd probably get rid of the Venom 400 unit and revert to stock wiring. Your car must have been modified a long time ago as the most recent information I can find on that unit is from 2002. Looks like it just ramps up the TPS reading which isn't great.

You won't get spark unless the switch is turned to the "on" position. I'd have to see a picture of the clutch pedal assembly to know what's going on with the safety switch.

Move the Venom and get your full ECU part number. I want to be sure it isn't an auto car that was 5 speed converted, in which case your safety switch wiring may not exist.

Thanks for the reply. There is no clutch switch. But there is like a box and idk how to say it but I thinks it’s for a clutch delete. There a ground and when I put it against a dash metal piece it won’t spin the engine over. But as soon as i take it off it spins over strong but doesn’t start. My plan is to get my ecu reprogrammed to stock ecu form and see what happens.

My eclipse had hella gauges and other custom wiring that didn’t work or anything and many custom wiring in the main engine harness. When I get my ecu redone and nothing changes I’ll probably get a new harness and redo everything.

I’ve done a few test and they all relie off the ecu. (Asd relay isn’t getting power from the ecu, crank shaft sensor isn’t either).

I’ll try to get the ecu part number if I can see it and send pics of the pedals

That black tss box connect to some ignition plugs, and that blue ground is the one that’s like a “kill switch ground”.
