i own a '97 tsi awd ,i changed the slave and the master cylinders cause they were both leaking bad and one night i was driving home from work and the clutch pedal just went to the floor. Anyway , i installed both and bled the crap outta the clutch line. Went for a drive and the clutch is now slipping bad at anything above idle (as though if i left my foot on the pedal). I looked at the clutch fork and it seems to be dead center , maybe a hair to the passenger side. I was wondering if i could just put some washers in the slave cylinder mounting bolts (maybe i dropped one or too?)to bring the clutch fork more towards the drivers side?? Any other suggestions (other then shimming the pivot ball) ???. thanks :beatentodeath:

did any fluid get in the bell housing? contaiments can cuase a clutch to slip untill its burnt off.. if its not keep bleeding it take a lot of bleeding to get it perfect..

If you replaced broken stock parts with (correct) new stock parts, there is no reason to start adding washers and stuff. Find out what the problem is: don't mask it.

I would agree that you need to do some more bleeding. It may feel fine, and then after you drive a bit you may have to bleed some more. Also make sure you are bleeding it correctly so that air isn't getting back into the lines.

yeah but sometimes even if you order the right part # sometimes its the wrong part in the box i'm gonna compare it to the original , maybe the one i got from NAPA with the slave is the wrong length. Would not bleeding it enough cause it to rest off center ? (more to the passangers side ?)

the only thing i could think of is that i power washed the hell outta the engine bay (to find some oil leaks , and finally get it spotless ), you think so simple green could have gotten on to the clutch some how and needed to get burned off even though it sat for about a week waiting for a control arm, after i finished the master and slave ?

no things like that would have burned off pretty much as soon as you pushed in the clutch.. it would half to have been oil or some other lubricant..

whoa, this is a coincidence. i just picked my car up last night (after having a a new clutch master cyl installed) and it was fine until later in the morning it started slipping then i came home from lunch and when i tried to leave it wants to slip at any RPM above idle.
BTW: 95 TSI AWD

well its weird its still doing it except when the car is cold, if it warms up too much it slips like theres nothing left. any ideas?
