I'm currently in the process of replacing my clutch I'm almost sure that the release bearing went bad. the other day some punk in a honda was trying to show off so i went to show him that for a my non turbo could eat his car any day, well
not that day. iv had a feeling that it was going bad but i ended up missing second and that did it right there. immediately was unable to select gears. i pulled over with in seconds and looked to see there was fluid in the reservoir and it was full. i waited for a few minutes to see if there was a leak somewhere but no leak. also after it happened the pedal felt softer than normal, real easy to push. after trying to start the car a few times i found out that clutch was stuck engaged, no clutch. I couldn't afford a tow truck so i played with it for a few minutes grinding gears some more but i got the hang of it and was able to get it home. today i bought the part and began disassembly. right now, I have the intake, battery, starter, all electrical connections to the trani, and the shifter cables. my next step is to pull the rear mount and then the driver side lower arm so i can take the transaxle out. next i am to pull all the bolts out of the bell housing leaving two in for safety as i take the next step to pull the last mount.using a jack i will lower the trani out form the bottom. After the trani is removed pull off the old clutch plate assembly and release bearing. prepare the new parts. once installed reassemble in the opposite way of disassembly. this is my plan on how to execute this job and hopefully all goes well.
