I just ordered my clutch kit for my 1g talon tsi AWD and I am going to tackle the job over the weekend. Is there absolutely anything else I might need than what I already have?

Fidanza 3.2 clutch kit
fidanza 8lb flywheel
OEM t.o.b
ss clutch line
new clutch fork
new pivot ball
fork cover
clip
rear main seal
loctite for the oem flywheel bolts
fluids
grease

thanks

I replaced my flywheel bolts while I was down there, but reused the pressure plate to flywheel ones. You might want to replace the clutch master cylinder. That looks pretty good though. I would suggest shimming the pivot ball with a few washers, or 1 locking washer, because they are thicker.
Remember that you need 2 jacks too. One to hold the engine, and one to lower/raise the tranny.

So I should be fine using the stock pp to flywheel bolts? Where do you all recomend getting the aftermarket flywheel bolts? Also how do I know if I have a bad slave or master cylinder?

You should only really need to shim the pivot ball if you aren't replacing the fork/ball. Make SURE your master/slave are in tip top condition, and read all the tips at TRE. Be sure you have a manual and torque everything properly. Put all hardware/nuts/bolts/pins in plastic baggies and label them.

And, above all else, MAKE SURE YOU DON'T HAVE A WORN CLUTCH PEDAL!!!!! It will hinder all of your efforts. It may seem fine now, but if it is still the original pedal a heavier clutch will wear it out fast. There is tons of info on this in the forums, and you can look it up at RRE's website and if you go through the wayaback machine (archive.org) you can look up more info at taboo speed shop's old website.

Sorry, I'm at work now so I don't have time to post all the links for you on worn clutch pedals. A search and some reading will reveal all sorts of info on it.

Good luck! A "simple clutch job" is what ends up driving so many DSM owners to get so frustrated that they sell their car. Double check all your work and don't be afraid to ask for help.

I am going to be doing a clutch job here soon also.

ACT 2600 pp/street
ACT alignment tool
oem tob
ACT flywheel
Slave cylinder
rear main seal
Clutch fork
pivet ball-Do I need to shim it? Jackstransmissions says yes and with what kind of washer?
Tranny fluid
Clutch fluid
Fuel filter
Locktite
Do I need to buy new pp to flywheel bolts and flywheel bolts also?
Anything else-maybe ss line?

If this is your first time, make sure you have some HIGH jack stands and a good tranny jack. I used extra jackstands to hold the weight of the motor as I disconnected the rear mount so the tranny can slide in easier.

Also grab a friend along with all the other parts.
