how much time/ money does it take to put a new clutch fork in? am i better off taking it to a shop?

First off, 91 GS-T's kick arse :thumb: Replacing your clutch fork requires that you drop your transmission...so its about 2-3 hours of labor. (Remove intake/radiator hoses, remove tranny fluid, remove wheels + axles, then drop tranny). The clutch fork itself is pretty inexpensive, its the labor thats going to kill you in terms of cost.

Much easier than if it was an awd. Make sure you watch the little 12 mm bolt in the back near the axle. It can make removing the transmission rather interesting if you forget or miss it.

Good Luck

I did that the first time I pulled my transmission. It took a few minutes to figure out why it was stuck.. I bet I never forget again.:sneaky:

the clutch fork would be on a 92 awd

AWD will be harder. Basically, it's just pulling your tranny. After that it's easy sauce. If you feel up to it, do it!

I do FWD trannies in 3 hrs. AWD take a little longer. Maybe 4hrs labor.

It saves you a lot of money doing it yourself. Also, when you change the fork check the through out bearing. If it hasn't been replaced you might as well do it while you're at it.

The clutch fork and ball are $60 from Mitsu and the tob is another $30. You usually change these out when you do a clutch job...seeing as how you have to remove the tranny and all.

It very easy to do...most newbies are scared to do it...If you do end up taking it to shop, they'll probably include it in with the clutch job which is about $300-$400.
