Hi, i have an issue that i cant figure out. I was looking at all my fluid levels before i put my car away for winter here in wisconsin and i noticed that i have no clutch fluid in the resivoir?? there is nothing dripping ont he ground and up to that time i have not noticed any problems with my clutch which is a clutch master stage 4. Thanks

If the fluid just dissapeared, you must have a leak some where and you should find it before you star bleeding it or else you would have to do it again. There are only few places where clutch can leak.

1. The master cylinder under your dash.

2. The rubber clutch line under your intake and ic pipes.

3. The slave cylinder which by now you should know where it is.

Good luck.

Did you pull the rubber boot back on the slave cylinder? I NEVER ran out of fluid in my clutch reservoir until my slave cylinder died. You've got a problem somewhere.

yes i pulled it off and its dry, maybe if i took the SC out(maybe leaking their) ,i would have to check,(i would now but i gotta go to work in few min)

Yeah, that's it. Follow the directions on vfaq for bleeding, my Haynes manual also talks about it pretty well.

this might be a stupid ? but when I bleed it shold the car be on or off?

Ok. My clutch master cylinder was going bad and leaking fluid onto my floor mat so I just replaced that. As soon as I did I developed a leak somewhere else. It is leaking right where the hydraulic hard line goes into the tranny. The little rubber boot on it keeps filling with fluid and blowing off and making a mess in the process. What would cause it to leak from inside there and how do you go about replacing it since its so obstructed. I'm talking about the little rubber piece where the line goes into the tranny, just above the subframe, right behind the front engine mount. I can get a pic of what I'm talking about tomorrow if necessary.

I guess it was probably just on its way out. It never leaked until the moment I changed the master cylinder. Seemed kinda odd so I was curious. What does it take to get it out. Looks like it could be kinda tough with the tight location it is in

The slave is not tough at all to get out. You just have to have the right size extensions. It's only two bolts that hold it on. You might want to loosen the hard line going to the slave first, then take the two bolts that hold it on out and reverse with your new slave and bleed the system. Always a good idea to use a good flare wrench on the hydraulic line so you lower your risk of rounding the nut.

The slave cylinder doesn't actually go into the tranny itself. It pushes on the clutch fork and that goes into the bell housing.

Hope this helps.

Since I guess you fixed your problem, I am looking for help on mine. I have a 2gb TSI, and the clutch fluid "disappears". I dont notice any leaks on the carpeting or the connections of the lines for the fluid. I bled the system, put in brand new synthetic fluid and today i checked the reservoir, and it was almost empty. Where could it have gone? OR What is wrong?
THanks.

Why would you make three posts on the same question within 10 mins? :nono: What suggestions presented on this thread have you tried before you posted your question?

Well, I didn't do it. It was by itself. Sometimes my pc acts up so that could of been one of the causes, but not me deliberately. Ok, it was fixed. I bled the system w/all new fluid, checked for leaks, and thats about it.

Lawl I just noticed this happened to my talon as soon as the Cold weather hit a few weeks ago... I have just been putting fluid in whenever I drive the talon around. It def needs to be rebled again as the engagement point on my 2900 is way at the top. Air bubbles are def present.. There are no leaks or anything either. I'm thinking the slave nipple just got loose and allowed some air in having to do with Heating up and cooling down so much I wouldnt be surprised if it came loose... Any ways no big deal easy fix I just thought I would post to add to the sudden amount of people that is having this problem at the same time :D
