So today I went for a drive and noticed that my gearbox was tighter than usual. I didn’t think anything of it beings it was cold as hell out. Well I got home and went to go in reverse and it didn’t want to, I had to force it. I began to back up my driveway and the whole car started to violently shake. I had my buddy look under car while I was backing up and he said tcase was shaking. So I pulled plug on tcase to see how much fluid came out, then I refilled it. I also topped off trans fluid. I began diving deeper into the issue and realized it could be multiple different things. I put the car on 4 jackstands and started it in first gear with clutch pushed in, my buddy got a video of driveshaft and rear tires spinning while the clutch was in. I just tried adjusting the master cylinder rod, it’s currently all the way out, and the gearbox is still super tight going into 1st and I have to be forceful going into reverse. I’m wondering if this is all related to my tow truck issue that happened Monday.

Monday, I had gotten towed while I was in work. My buddy sent me a pic and it wasn’t a flatbed, just a regular truck. I had made a post in the dsmnation Facebook group asking about what to expect for damage. Long story short, multiple people said that the tow driver probably used Dollie’s and popped my door open to take the car out of gear (it was in neutral when I picked it up from impound, but I had left it in gear) well today I called my buddy and he said the tow driver did in fact not use Dollie’s but my front tires were on ground the whole time. Is there a simple issue I’m overlooking, or is this trans damage caused by the tow? TIA

If you got towed with two wheels on the ground I would say it's highly likely you have some trans damage. I don't see how it could cause shifting issues but the viscous coupling and center diff can get fried. Tow company is liable but good luck proving it.

I have a pic that it was towed on regular truck. Also 2 eye witnesses. Going to try and get security vid
