Hey guys, I tried posting in the drivetrain tech but it wouldn't let me.

I've already been searching and reading but I have some more questions I couldn't find answers to.

I'm about to drop in a new motor (howell 2.2 crate motor) and I'm thinking I might as well upgrade my clutch now since I plan to be boosting in another year or so. I plan to be in the 300-400 whp range when I'm done. Mostly just street driven, possibly some racing down the road.

1) I'm pretty sure I want the ACT 2600 instead of the 2100. But what disc? Just the ACT "street" disc? I haven't found as much info about the disc and flywheel options while searching. Also, what disc should I go for? Does ACT also make lightweight flywheels?

2) Where is the best place to buy these ACT parts?

Thanks a bunch!

Wait... I'm sorry, correct me if I'm wrong. My 95 Talon NT has a modular clutch, so what exactly does this mean? The flywheel, clutch, disc, pressure plate whatever are all one part?

In that case what are my options for an upgrade? Does ACT have a 420 clutch available that's similar to a 2600/street disc combination? And would it come with a lighter flywheel? I've also noticed SouthBend a few times, do they have a good option to go with?

Please help me out guys, this is getting confusing between clutches, discs, flywheels, and modular vs non-modular.

Yep modular means they're all one piece. I'm not positive if ACT makes a clutch for our car as I can't remember..I do know the two major names us 420a guys go for are SPEC and SBC(South Bend Clutch). I and many others will recommend SBC, they make great products and have wonderful customer service, Andy really knows what he's talking about.

Here's the website, check it out. www.southbendclutch.com

Thanks Josh, but I just spoke with my friend whom I'm buying the motor from and he's giving me his Clutchmasters Stage 4 non-modular with lightweight flywheel with it for only $100 more. So I'm good to go now.

Well, if your going that route make sure that flywheel doesnt need to be machined before the install.

Good advice! It only has 12k miles on it... how long would you normally expect it to last without needing to be resurfaced? and assuming it's fine right now, are there any signs to watch out for in th future other than the clutch slipping?

Depends on how it was driven.

You could check the surface for flatness, and take the glaze off with some fine grit sand paper.
