Ok heres the deal guys, had my head off to change the head gasket, well when it was off, it got dirty, particles of dirt and what not on it, so my buddy was like you really need to get that cleaned, but weve already bolted the head down, and we were wandering if there is any way I could possibly clean it myself while its still bolted on???? If anyone knows if this can be done or not, please let me know and explain how to. Thanks alot and any feed back is greatly appreciated.

Simple answer, no. Unbolt it and take it back off. You cant clean well at all through the runners, and if you really want a machine shop to hot tank it, it'll take you some $ (150ish) and a day or two or three, and it'll come back looking brand new. Otherwise, use a nice clean rag?? and take the valve cover off and clean it out really well I guess?

Be sure to thank your friend for suggesting this after you bolted it down :thumbdown

Particles of dirt where? In the head runners or on the outside?

If your head gasket surfaces (head and block) was dirty I'd say pull it off and redo as those surfaces need to be clean for the HG to survive.

If in doubt, pull it. Will be worth it not having to think about it ever again ;)
