whats up guys??
I am getting down to the knitty gritty problems in my car and then this came up.
Once moving it starts at 5-7 mph and it chirps as the wheel turns. like a quick chirp then once it that spot thats rubbing comes around it does it again. faster i go the faster the chirp.
I heated my tires up and it stayed the same.
it's gotten a little louder and more consistant now and sounds like a metal to metal chirp. It still remains when I apply the brakes and with the help of my girlfriend we found it is on coming from the drivers side half of the car. you have to be listening hard for it with the car in neutral going under 45 and the radio off.
Lug nuts are all tight and when I had my brake pads off...oh idk 6k miles ago it had quite a bit of meat left to it and rotors look good. bearings looked good as well. I thought i could get at least another 15k out of them... havn't checked since.
it seems to not make the noise right away while the suspension/drivetrain is relatively cold too.
my thoughts are that I kind of busted a cv boot strap/tie thingy and misformed it but it still held tight (I hope it still does) or warped rotors. The rotors look good but they are nasty (rust) inside by the veins.
This is my chore tomorrow is to diagnose.
I am going to
1. Shake the shit out of the wheels to check bearings
2. check that cv boot
3. check for the dust shield or anything that could be scratching rotor
4. remove pads then spin wheel like hell
any other ideas? any prior exp or thoughts??
