I have been researching many threads involving tuning products to try and figure out which set up will be best for my engine. Right now I am using an s-afcI, 2gmaf, and datalogger combo, and it is not working at all.
My next step was to go to a chipped eprom and hope that would compensate for my 2gmaf and 550 injectors, allowing me to properly tune it with my afc.
Well my buddy just put a greddy e-manage in his 240sx(sr20det) and put down 360whp, previously only putting down 310 with an afc.
I am wondering if anyone has had better luck just using an eprom and afc, or if i should go the greddy route.
Here are my mods:
Evo3B16g
255lph fp
RCeng 550 inj.
FTSpeed AFPR
Apexi S-AFCI
2g MAF

Weisico 8.8:1
Eagles and clevites
qpr balance shaft removal
arp hardware

Bone stock head.

Thanks in advance for any help! :dsm: :talon: :laser:

A stage 3 chip is the way to go for sure. They will program the chip to compensate for your injectors, 2g mas. There are so many advantages with the chip, such as fuel cut which will help a lot. You will get a better response from the chip than you would from the AFC when it comes to tuning. The AFC lies to the computer to correct the air fuel mix, where the chip is programed. That way the maps are not all messed up. Go to dsmchips.com and check it out. Good luck!

I agree with the chip theory.

The Emanage with not compensate for the injector size, or bigger maf. By that, I mean deadtime, etc. for the larger injectors. The chip will.
Your buddy was more than likely able to get more power out of his car because of the timing adjustments possible with the emanage.

Honestly, you should just sell your safc and get dsmlink. Problem solved and you will never need anything more. :thumb:

Well actually, I have been looking at the ECU+, and that is what I am leaning towards. Since I don't have an eprom it would make more since to go with ECU+. Which also allows for injector compensation and MAF compensation.
For those that purchased the ECU+, how hard is tuning compared to DSMlink. And what were the results?

i would say the best thing about a chip is timing tweaks

afc and big injectors usually = to much timing = knock

I apologize in advance for intruding on this thread but I too am debating between the stg III chip or dsmlink. I think my profile is updated but here are my main mods...

stock head
FP2 Cams
Magnus smi
SCM61 Turbo
FMIC
MAFT
Logger
SAFC (old 5 knob style)
Walbro 255
Areomotive AFPR
75lb/hr injectors
stock block

I heard the stg III chip with safc and maft is plenty good; but I have also heard how good dsmlink is. What would you guys suggest I get? Also, in speaking with Nate at dsmchips he said the chip is sent out with a socket. What exactly does this mean...? I still have to get my ecu socketed to accept this socket? Dam, sorry for the newb questions. Just want to be sure I spend my money wisely.

Yes, you still have to get your ecu socketed to accept the chip.

I have been researching the ECU+ over the past day or so, and it seems like an awesome program. I realize that DSMlink is similar so I would def. say to go with Link. I have been trying to tune my setup for a year now on SAFC, and now realize the drawbacks of it. If I had to do it over, I would have gone straight to link or, if it was out ECU+.

When I was looking for an upgrade to MY crappy AFC/MAF combo, I looked at ECU+ as well. Ditched it in favor of DSMLink though once I compared the feature set. I'm really glad I made the choice, even though I had to buy an EPROM ECU. It was totally worth it. I guess you should consider your goals.

Yah, I would get DSMlink if I could, but then I would have to buy an eprom. So it makes sense to just get ECU+, and not spend the extra dough.
Do you know if the ECU+ can be interchanged between 1G and 2G DSMs? Like if I decide to put my engine in a 2g shell, could I just swap the ECU+ from my 1G and hook it up to the ECU on the 2G?

You would need a 95' eprom ecu for the 2g
