Ok so I hear alot of bashing about these sparkplug wires but I decided to try them out myself. My ngk's were worn out and I was gettin some bad misfire at 20psi. So I bought the hotwires...alittle pricey at 170 but I said what the hell.....so I installed them and the car feels like its on rollerskates LOL suuuper smooth! The car has no misfire and the topend feels alot stronger...btw I'm using ngk bpr8es. Here a some pics:

Thanx...yea the wires are very thick but they dont say exactly how thick they are.

Very pricey for wires but they look good. I don't think that it's specifically because of these wires why the car feels so much better. I replaced my shitty MSD's with new wires and the car was like an entire different car...no misfires, smoother idle, no more sputtering at high boost etc..

Yea it could be possible...the only reason i bought them is because the advertise as having a much "hotter" spark than anything else on the market...LOL whatever. But i do notice the car pulls alot harder than before....even if i bought brand new ngk's i dont think it would pull like this.

only one way to find out... back to back dyno with NGK vs Hotwire ;)

I am finding the grounding straps interesting though.....

despite if they help or not, what if the jacket surrounding the wire was compromised... the spark would likely ark to the grounding strap causing a misfire every time..... I wonder how they think this grounding strap helps though.

Yea the capacitors are built in the wire and everything is claimed to be high temp rated.....i've had it on for about 4 days now in 90+ weather...so far so good!

They are alittle bit longer than oem wires...yes the wires are pretty fat..the include a 2,3,and 4 hole seperator kit to make it somewhat neat...I used the 4 hole.

those look nice i got the 8.5 mm msd's. due to they were 75 and still a good wire.
but with the capacitors and grounding straps..... i kinda wish that i went with those.
NICE BUY BRO!

I fail to see how a capacitor can help with each event / firing of the spark plug. Ok sure it can store some power, sure it can release it quickly but seriously now, it's a surge of high voltage current coming across it, it's not the way I think of a cap being used. I think of them being used for start up of electronics.

I just don't see how it can store enough to contribute any real increase in voltage to make a hotter spark. I would think it might keep it a more consistent spark, but thats all.

Someone who knows more than me about them please correct me if I am wrong.

Cover that timing belt.

Yea I know I'm saving up for the clear cover.

I'm not really an expert on this but this is what they advertise: "Nology HotWires are the most technologically advanced ignition wires available. HotWires create the most powerful spark possible. HotWires are engineered with a special built-in capacitor, exclusive only to HotWires. This revolutionary design allows energy from the ignition coil to accumulate in the capacitor until the voltage at the spark plug electrodes reaches the ionization point. At that split second point the entire power of the stored spark is discharged at once, creating a spark 300 times more powerful. The result is faster, more complete combustion, and most importantly."
300 X more Powerful Spark
100% Smog Legal
Built-In Capacitor
Ground Strap
Easier Starting Engine
Improved Acceleration
Increased Horsepower (2%-5%)
Increased Torque
Cleaner Combustion (Less Pollution)
Higher Efficiency
Higher RPM limits
Lower Cycle to Cycle Variation
No more spark plug fouling ..................

I dont know if this is all BULL or not but I can def feel a difference at WOT at 4. 5, and 6 grand...damn I really need to get on the dyno!

Callaway proved they work, while others proved they don't... Callaway saw ~10hp increase on a 440hp vette

certain cars actually run worse, although that could be due to quality control, there are disappointing dyno charts

I ran these on my old supra and I they have about the same effect as a msd dis 2. CLeaner better spark but you really only see gains if something was wrong before or you were at the limites of the stock ignition which isn' very comon.

Would you choose these or a good set of cop's for a fully built dsm?

No. Either a set of factory wires, or the first step-up from cheapest at AutoZone, etc.

Is it me or do the wires get smaller at the ends? Wonder why...

Because that's where the magical shrouding ends and leads off to the ground terminal. Somehow, the tricity promises it'll be good for the quarter-length of the un-shrouded part of the wire and not get into any mischief. Just like wires with no shrouds at all seem to be able to behave themselves.... since 1936.
