Your porting looks pretty good, but you can cut the time WAY down with a carbide bit. You won't remove too much on cast iron as it's pretty hard and won't get away from you. Aluminum is another story. It's very easy to get carried away if you're not careful.
I ported my 14B aboiut six years ago in about an hour including the sanding stone cleanup and I ported it down as far as I could reach. There's no way my hands could take four hours of porting!

What the hell were you using? A good carbide bit cuts cast iron with no problem. If you move the bit around, back and forth, in controlled movements nothing even gets warm.
