I got a new muffler installed from HP racing 2 days ago.. the check engine light did not come on then , the car was running fine.. yesterday when i parked my car , i forgot to turn off the lights of my car... unfortunately, when i woke up i found my car's battery was dead so it wouldnt start. i hooked it up with jumper cables and started it.. im not quite sure if thats when the engine light came on or not.. but later during the day i noticed the engine light was on. the RPM is really low.. as if the car is about to stall out too.. the car runs fine and starts easy.. what might the problem be?

yeah i have the same problem as you, i left the key turned in my girlfriends dsm and overnight the battery died, i jumped the battery in the morning and after that the check engine lights been coming on? odd? andy ideas on this would help...

Stop, Think, Evaluate, Proceed, Solve

Stop... there is a problem.
Think... What options do I have
Evaluate... Come to the realization that the CEL itself will tell you what system is failing
Proceed... Take the Fault code and properly diagnose the problem.
Solve... Fix the problem on the first shot without guessing.

There's no need to guess at what MIGHT be failing. The check engine light is there to help you, not scare you. Get the codes retrieved and come back on here with the fault code(s) and we can help you. Otherwise, it's just a matter of who wants to help you waste money guessing at what it is. It could be an injector fault that just decided to show up after you did some work on it. Or it could be an O2 sensor. Don't guess.

i went to autozone as you guys suggested,
they gave me this error code
P0505 - IDLE CONTROL SYSTEM MALFUNCTION

I have no idea what that is or where it is.. please help
my car's idle is fluctuating.. the RPM drops and goes up randomly

i searched on this forum about that error code and alot of ppl seem to be having the same problem , i read the whole solution you wrote DOUG..
im going to try that ..
do you know how much an OHM meter costs?
any other suggestions what i should do ?

someone is selling them for like $40 each on the classifieds. A good ohm meter/volt meter is like 7-8 bucks. You have the code, buy a haynes manual for 15 bucks, it will list out how to solve this or what could cause the code. I can check and let you know at home where my manual is.
