Ok so im looking for a way to tune my car without using dsmlink I dont have the money for that so I need a cheap way to tune my car the swap is almost done I blew the last motor not sure what turbo I have I bought the car and it was all hacked together mods are that I kno of a greddy bov, fmic, boost gauge, the car is a 93 eclipse gs fwd the car had no stock boost gauge so im assuming it was a non turbo swapped to a turbo do I also need a ecu off a turbo gst or what im kinda new to modding but not to dsm I have owned many any help would be great thanx

With a laptop im not sure about any programs that you can use, you could grab a safc, or get your ecu chipped. Cheapest if your new to tuning get a customized chip.

Agreed. Definitely go the ecuflash, ceddymods, evoscan route. DO NOT purchase an safc no matter how tempting the price looks.

Custom chip? How would I do that and what about the ecu that is in my car im almost positive its a non turbo ecu considering my car was non turbo at one point would I need to chang that as well

I'm pretty sure 2Gs didn't have a boost guage stock...?? check the vin number to check if its n/a with a added turbo or not.

The 2g had a stock boost gauge I had one in my 98 gst next to the oil pressure gauge. But im in a 1g now its a 93 gs all the turbo model dsms had a stock boost gauge im pretty sure anyways I could be wrong tho

Also I need a tuning device for obd1 ecuflash just says obd2

Your only options with a 1g are ginna be link, megasquirt or buying an ostrich and burning chips yourself. Odds are if its running a turbo someone swapped the ecu as well to a turbo model. pull it out and check.

Well the guy I got the car from hacked a lot of stuff and four days after I just dropped 2 grand on it it cracked a piston and my engine blew up. So ## saying dsmlink is pretty much the only way to go? That sux cause I really dont have 500$.

What upgraded parts are on the car? Why do you need to tune it currently? If its running beyond stock, its gonna cost $$$ to run the car safely, correctly, and effectively.

Based off the first post, buy a boost gauge, turn the boost down to 10 psi, figure out all the problems and mods on the car, do maintenance, then save up and buy link.

Keep boost low and add that to the list a way to tune it i ran my car for years no tune, then i just decided to get link and love it.
