ok so iv got all the parts i can get without going to big and messing something up..
you all have to forgive me as im from the bigblock oldschool world, ahd now im ready for tuning ?

what i need is a good safe cheapest route to tuning ... i have my 95 talon tsi ( eprom ecu as it is really a 94) and im looking for a good way to logg and tune my car!

i need the parts list i guess is what im asking for, from the nuts and bolts to the last peace!

links would be great!

ok everyone keeps talking about ecmlink/dsmlink is this a fully pnp system or do i still need other mods to my ecu? can some one explanation the platform a little more.

as for dsmchips i know a lot about pic / dip / pin chips and flashing them and a lot about the binary structure but for some reason i don't trust all the money i have invested thus fare to a simple binary chip... i dunno i will look more into it!

thanks for the info.. waiting to hear more about dsmlink.

also what map and o2 would you recommend ? i have a wide-band atm. but wanting to know what setup is recommended!

So, if i am corrected, the Chip is for dummies (like myself) and can just plug n play without logging, computer etc? Just put the chip in for my setup and go?

ECMLink is a complete engine management solution. In addition to that package, you'll need a laptop that meets or exceeds the system requirements posted on ECMTuning's website. Your EPROM ECU will need to be socketed, as DSMLink comes with its own chip to make everything work right (deferring all signals to the PC, I would assume). Sort of pricey but you can't get any better, you can control... well, everything with it.

I've done a little reading on the subject of MAP sensors, and have heard good things about GM and Omni Power brands. I encourage you to research your options to make sure everything gets along with your setup. Beyond that, AEM's MAP sensors are questionable in my mind. I've read good and bad things about them, regarding 4.5v versus 5v. Don't know what to believe. Still probably more expensive than something else that will work just as well, if not better.

Any wideband O2 sensor should be fine too, I intend to go with one of those fancy AEM UEGO units when it comes time.

Here is an oddly specific post that popped up while I was looking through posts to make sure I wasn't completely off-base in my reply that may come in handy. Keep in mind the date of that post, and info on some things may be outdated, but should give you a good place to start.

Edit: Timmy, that's sort of correct. The chips still require you have a socketed EPROM ECU. A chip can provide performance equivalent to a rough or moderate tune, by my estimation. As it is a chip and can only be burnt once (and certainly not on-the-fly) with one set of values, it provides fewer variables for the end user to play with to get an optimum tune. A better explanation can be found on the DSMChips website in the FAQ section. Would still recommend some form of logger, so you still know what's going on.

Thanks, this is very helpful to many that are "new" to tuning!

That was a good post, but save the headache, or possibility of a headache, and get an LC-1 WBO2. 1g cars and AEMs often have issues.

I also agree with going with Ecmlink V3 Lite. Its a great price and gives you plenty of tuning options. I am debating about getting that on my dd or going full out Link like I have on my other car.
