So i just recently got a brand new alternator from Mitsubishi and i have had it for about a month now. everything was fine until a day or so ago now the battery light comes on whenever i start the car but goes away whenever i rev the car. the belt doesn't squeal and it doesn't seem to be slipping that i can tell by looking at it. the light also seems to come back on while driving even though my radar detector says its at 14.0 volts and i don't seem to have low voltage or anything. the battery might be at fault considering i had an alternator overcharge it at 17 volts for a day or so until i got it fixed. it did lose some battery acid so im not sure if this is the problem or not. the battery supposedly tested out fine by the mechanic that replaced the alternator a month ago. any ideas guys?

Have the battery tested again. Just because it was good a month ago doesn't mean much now. Especially if your alternator was overcharging.

i'll do a check on the battery and alternator. and what really gets me is sometimes when the battery light comes on the voltage is reading 14.0 on the radar detector. i know the radar detector isnt 100% accurate but still i am confused. oh and by the way the battery i have in it is an optima yellow top with a 3 yr warranty so maybe i should just go back to autozone and get a new one maybe?
