I need some help guys,
I have a 1995 Talon Tsi. I noticed the turnovers were getting slower, still only took one to start, but then it died on me after accelerating and pushing in the clutch. I figured it was the alternator so I changed it. Still no turnover. I then brought the old alternator and battery to autozone to check both. Battery was fine(i trickle charged it earlier) and the alternator was dead. The battery terminals aren't great so I put my $.02 in them(pennies) and the ground from the battery to the fire wall only has about 10 threads that aren't frayed off. I checked the engine ground and it was fine. Also tried my clutch safety switch and that wasn't it either. The starter doesn't engage at all. I'm thinking the starter relay but any suggestions?
Thanks guys! (And any girls that may reply!) :p

First off you need to test the starter. Try jumping the solenoid on the starter to eliminate the ignition switch, relay and wiring.

To jump it, I need to run a wire from the solenoid straight to the battery? I'm just starting to learn more about cars. I love them and know basic stuff, but I want to learn the hard stuff too haha
Thanks man

You can do that or just use a piece of wire or a screw driver to jump the + terminal on the starter to the trigger terminal. Make sure that the car is not in gear when you are doing this though.

after 16 odd years the starter starts to stick killed my one when i overtook my mate at 125 mph then the starter just went dead and started grinding swaped it and now it like butter

The more I looked into the ground issues the more I thought it is going to be that. I'll be finding out tomorrow! Thanks guys! I was worried it might be something major. :p

Update: Hey guys, it turned out to be the starter! My baby is running beautifully again!
Thanks for the helpful advice.
