CEL problem

Hey,

I just bought a 99 GSX this past Tuesday. I was driving to work 3 days ago and the CEL just popped on. Funny thing is I had driven the car approx 300 mi and it wasnt on. I know the belts need to be changed, but not sure why the CEL came on.

Any help that you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
