CEL because of 60K?

well today i was driving home, and when my car turned to 58,040 miles, the service engine soon light came on... is this because it is nearing the 60K maintenance and it wants to bother me? or not? i havent touched my car in a while, so i know i didnt mess around with something and cause it to throw one, um... so my hypothesis is routine maintenance... btw, i am going to order the "kit" one of these days, just need to have a little bit more money than what i have right now... help a guy out here.

The CEL comes on because a sensor has returned a value that is out of range. DSMs don't have any mileage signals. They aren't away from the shop long enough to need one.
