ok, so browsing around.. and i found what is described as a JDM cat converter, but for only 50 bucks shipped... isnt that a little cheap.. just wanted to ask incause anyone else was looking at the same thing and this way we will all know if its real or not... thanks..

It actually doesn't even look like a cat converter. It looks more like a resenator. I would be careful because sometimes you get what you pay for and that would appear to be the case.
 
I bought one of those. Yeah, all it is is a resonator with flanges bolted on. I got a Buschur high flow cat instead for $90. It has slotted bolt holes so it should fit to stock piping ok. Good bang for your buck and looks legal. I still saved my old cat for smog though. At least CHP won't look twice at it.

no cat in the world has a straight-through design, they wouldn't work. It's a resonator. Find an old 2.5" cat, cut the casing off of it, take a 2.5" pipe and weld the casing onto it. Paint it, and there you go, you'll pass visual inspection no problem. That way if you get pulled over, it'll look like you have a cat, when it's just a straight through pipe, no restrictions!
