is there an exhaust that is 2 and 1/2 inch and can bolt on to my factory 2 inch downpipe? if yes please give me name and model please..... i know this is a newbie question but a cat back exhaust, does that mean that gets rid of ur catlytic converter? or does the aftermarket down pipe gets ride of it? need help thanks.

there are 3 pieces to a Turbo DSM's exhaust.

Down Pipe, Catalytic Convertor, Cat-back.

I can see where your confused though.

There is a Down Pipe made by Apex, the N1 downpipe I believe that ELIMINATES the Catalytic Convertor.

I believe ALL 2 1/2" aftermarket Cat-backs will bolt up., Least when I purchased the exhaust for my 95 GSX I wrecked....it bolted up fine.

Good luck.

The 3" Apexi N1 catback exhaust comes with a reducer that lets your bolt it to the stock cat. If you decide to get the N1 downpipe, it'll replace the stock downpipe, cat, and that reducer.

Also, when people refer to catback exhaust, they mean after the catalytic converter to the exhuast tip.

when u purchased the exhaust, meaning u just purchased the exaust from after the converter till the tip of the muffler, u bolted that on just fine to ur stock catalytic converter which was on ur stock downpipe as well right? i cant get rid of the catalytic converter till after inspection. but i need a new cat back that has the 02 sensor. (does all aftermarket catback have the o2sensor input?) is that n1 apexi pass that stupid 50 state emission legal? or i dont have to worry about it cus i will have my stock downpipe with my stock catalytic converter....... AHHHHHHH im so sorry im getting out of control, just getting crazy here cus i need this crap done soon.......

basically will i be able to do a factory stock downpipe to a factory stock catalytic converter to a n1 apexi cat back????????????? then after i pass inspection cus the new n1 apexi will let me put the o2 sensor in it, ill get the down pipe that matches the n1 apexi. does the n1 come in a 2 and half inch? or only 3? sorry for the mess, just looking for some support :(

The N1 catback exhuast does have a spot for the O2 sensor. I ran a stock downpipe, stock cat, and the N1 catback and it ran great. Also, I believe that you can pass inspection with the N1 catback (or at least my mechanic friend says).

okayyyyy now we are getting somewhere, cool...

but since im at a stock downpipe with stock cat and then will be puttin on the the n1 apexi cat back, do i still need to look for a 50 state emissions legal exhaust? or no cus i have the stock downpipe with the stock cat? the n1 is a 2 and a half or 3 inch? just need 100% sure answers

You should be able to pass inspection with just that catback exhaust, as long as your don't get rid of the cat.

Also, the N1 comes in both 3" and 2.5".

hey meh987 sorry for the bother, so one last question, if i get the 2.5 n1 apexi cat back. it should 100 percent bolt on to my stock catalytic converter right? and the 2.5 n1 cat back does have a o2 sensor input? sorry thats 2 questions, i know i asked it plenty of times before but need to be 100 percent sure cus i will order it tomorrow

Actually both the 3" and the 2.5" with bolt up directly to the cat. As I mentioned before, the 3" one comes with a reducer, which narrows the exhause the 2.5" just after the car, so it will bolt up. The 2.5" will bolt up just fine, also.

As for your other question, the 2.5 does have the O2 sensor input, at least to my knowledge.

hey meh can u hook me up with a resonable link to a 2.5 n1 apexi for a 97 gst? so i can order it? cus i just see 3 inches

I can't remember where they sell the 2.5" N1. I remember seeing 2.5" copies of the N1 on ebay. But I would reccomend getting the 3" exhaust.

ok pefect, just wanted to thank all you guys here at dsmtuners.com for dealing with my confuesingness LOL... just ordered the n1 apexi, wanted to go with a 2.5 inch cus my car is mad low but oh well i guess hope it dont scrape at the bottom. got a over nite delivery should be here tomorrow. got it at dsmparts.com :thumb:

You shouldn't scrape even if your lowered. I know of people who are lowered 2" with the N1 and still don't scrape. So, you should be safe.
