College students with a family income over a certain level get shafted here too even if they are independent. Aid needs to be re-allocated to lower income students but we don't want to spend more so raising tuition and lowering the "need" level works.

My beater for years was a 1988 Dodge Caravan with a 3.0 (6G72) V6. That thing never let me down and eventually had to be taken off the road because of rusted out rocker panels. That van had the nicest interior of any production vehicle I've ever seen....plush maroon velour with classy wood trim on the dash.

Years ago one of my buddies picked up a GTech Performance Meter and we did a 1/4 mile pull in the old van one night just for fun. With four guys in the van ranging from 180-220lb, she ran a 19.13.

My dream "sleeper build" is to one day find one of those vans again from somewhere down south with zero rust and swap an entire 3000GT VR4 drivetrain underneath it. I'd end up with an AWD twin-turbo V6 minivan.

I think we're going to take advantage of the Cash For Clunkers program as well....we have a '94 F150 4x4 with 190k on it that we paid $4500 for ten years ago. The truck has done us well, and even though it runs perfect it's time to retire is now!

Yes it was sarcasm but there is truth to is as well. I'm not being hypocritical I'm just reclaiming what the gov't is going to be taken from me in taxes from cap and trade, bailouts, tarp bills, etc etc. For me not to take advantage would have been stupid. Hey if the gov't is going to give out free money the smartest thing we can all do is get it right back since they stole it from us in the first place.

The point is everyone is taking money that the Gov't doesnt have. It's not like you are getting your money back that you have payed in the past. Yeah you are getting money back, but everyone will suffer from now until who knows when we have to pay this back. The money we have paid in taxes is GONE. We will be taxed more for these kind of programs.

AHh yes I don't mind telling the story at all, I don't think my reputation can turn any more black. We were planning on a track day on Sat but we got an email on Friday saying the track was closed due to rain so we went all night instead. We closed the first establishment down at 5am, then we went next door to a bar that reopens at 5, we were doing shots at 7 am and then finally left about 8, we went to the gas station and picked up a 12 pack, ROAD trip was the only thing left to do, so we headed to cincy, until you passed out in the passenger seat and I pulled into the awful waffle and we had a nice drunken brunch. Headed back to my crib and slept it off. AHh the turbo van.

wow good deal we have a little over 20 clunkers in our back row we are just waiting for the go ahead to start blowing them. its a shame but out of those 20 or so there really is only about 2 in decent enough shape to think about keeping.

I've done this, it was rather awesome. The downfall was after about 1-2 mins it blew a rod, which cut some plug wires. The whole time the plastic fuel line was melting...gas...and arching plug wire......=FIREBALL . Oh ya! Good times!

I don't think it's going to take that long. Majestic Solutuions supplied us with some kind of chemical, Sodium Silacate?, that turns to glass when it gets hot. Hopefully it will be interesting.
