I recently was looking at my back hatch, and noticed that it was starting to rust from the inside out. Instead of buying a metal one i was thinking about buying either a VIS or a Hi Rev Performance Carbon fiber hatch. Does anyone have these installed on their cars, that could give me some feedback? - How was fitment, how does it hold up? Weight differences with the stock one vs the carbon one? and last what was involved in putting the glass into it? if anyone has pictures it would be appreciated. thanks

Why not just sand down the rust and apply a coat of rustoleum? You're looking at a $1000 price tag for a hatch with the speed glass or lexan. Unless you're going to reinstall the stock windshield in which case, it kind of defeats the purpose of a lighter hatch.

... yea no thanks, i dont want to sand the rust down and all that stuff. If something goes on my car ill replaice it with a better thing. I like the look for cfiber hatch im not looking for weight saving im looking more towards style. i had 2 vis hoods and had them crack on me so i was wondering how they were holding up on the hatches. i dont know anyone who ever used a hi rev performance one.

There are pictures of a red 2gb eclipse floating around on here that has the cf hatch and wing from hirev. I will try to find you a link to it and post back. I have thought about doing it too... with the lexan glass.

Ha i have never met anyone with my name that is spelled the same i really like those rims and hell yes you should get it and i dont know any good companies but i recently bought a 2g so maybe that i can get some Carbon Fiber for it if not oh well

but yes your car would look amazing with a cabon fiber hatch

Here are a few pics of the one from HiRev installed on a red 2g:

Wow, i do like that ALOT... As for Kris, yea there isnt that many of us LOL everyones chris LOL. Thanks for all of the imput guys, i dont mind spending money on me cay at all, as long as its on quality stuff. The one from hi rev performance looks amazing with the red car, im going to buy it. As for the lexan... does anyone know where i could get that?

I just put one on my car a couple monthes ago from GT Fabrications and must say the quality is very good. I used it with lexan and it definately shaved a crap load of weight. I'll snap some pics of it tommarow and put them up. Besides the clean look afterwards is also worth it IMO.

ha. maybe if i had the extra grand laying around...actually if i did, id buy lots more for my motor...i have a huge dent in the rear quarter panel of my car...buttttt thats me. i want more motor than style, style comes later. but anyway, that does look pretty gnarly.

thats like me to... but i havnt treated my car to any exterior parts in about two years. i think it might be time to steer off of the performence for a little bit. The gsx has held up this year shockingly after its 3rd engine and 2nd transmission im glad i can say this engine transmission combo help up this race season

well i mean this site is open to opinions but

it isnt a tailgate so its just a hatch and i think it would look better on a white 2gb but i mean that is my opinon also

I call it a tailgate boss. Just like you might say TRUNK LID for other cars....I call it a DECK LID. Sorry to upset you but that crap is fugly. Looks like the old hoopties that ride around with the 3 tone paint job and duct tape holding the bumper on :notgood:

I think I might start a new fad and paint every panel on my car a different color.

and by "Panel" I mean fender, hood, doors, facsia's and so on. It will look like an awesome quilt!!

HAHAHAHHAHA, i havent heard someone say 'fugly' in a long time, that made me laugh. I do also agree Kris_Stewart though, that would look pretty gnarly on a white 2g
