First off, let me say the car was running a couple of hours ago. It was running like it should for the most part, but it just had very loud lifter tick. I purchased some revised lifters a few days ago to put in and a friend and I just finished putting them in. Everything went smoothly, and we put it back together easily. Had no problems at all until we tried to crank the motor, when it didn't fire up. Not even a cough or sputter; it didn't make any attempt to fire. We've got spark, fuel pressure is around 42psi or so, and the car was running nice right before we did the install.

The only thing we can think of, as much as I hate to admit it, is the car jumped time somehow when we were rotating the crank. Timing belt is brand new as I just dropped this motor in, and the cam sprockets are still lined up perfectly, but I haven't been able to check the crank sprocket yet (I'd rather not have to unless it's a for sure). However, when we were installing the lifters, I rotated the crank counter-clockwise probably about a half revolution, but it didn't feel like anything slipped off or anything, but I'm not even sure if I can jump time by rotating it that way. All the other rotating was done clockwise.

The only thing I messed with other than the basic lifter install, was the MAFT. I pulled the cover off and set the 'base' switch for my 510cc injectors.

That pretty much covers everything since the car was last running... is there something I might have missed?

Mods are:
GMAF/T
510cc Injectors
TMO Stage III chip

Thanks in advance for any help... it's much appreciated :thumb:

First, do a compression test. All 4 cylinders. This will tell you if the belt has jumped. If it was installed correctly and I can only assume that, it should not jump.

If you are unsure, take the cover off and keep turning the crank, max 6 revolutions to align the pointers once again.

If that is all ok, then we need a spark, fuel check. Spray some carb cleaner into the intake while cranking. Does it try to start?

If it does, it's fuel. If not, it's ignition, or mechanical.

Let us know.
