car wont go over 3k rpm and backfires

just installed some cams got that out of the way. no i have the problem of when it starts it idles fine but when i put a load on it it bucks backfires and sputters. i cant go over 3000 rpm and then after it warms up it wants to die. what can this be timing is on but dont know what this can be please help also it smokes blue from the exhaust i have 10in of vacuum reading on the boost gage.

do you mean 101-100? because those work this stock everything so I'm stumped too. Pull the spark plugs and see how they look and maybe post a pic also check your plug wires I think the firing order 1342 make sure that is the correct firing order.

i wil try and pull the plug i am also going to recheck the casmake sure that gap is correct as well after that i will probably be at a lose

Answer to your question. Identify my camshafts. In Comp Cam catalog page 60, 100-000-8E is exhaust cam. 100-000-8I is the intake cam. Just looked up 8737, that grind id# is for a 101-200 intake cam. The cat# is XE259HR. The cams are 272 spec. 411 lift on intake, and 395 lift on exhaust

i see your profile says that you have an safc, make sure that the maf sensor type setting is correct. Especially if someone was messing with it. If the setting is correct. The maf sensor itself could be bad

I'd check the cas...it came off on me once upon a time and threw an engine light and had me hating my car for 2 days until I checked over everything carefully and found that SIMPLE problem.

My car did the same thing a few months ago. I tried replacing the O2 sensor and the MAFC, it didn't fix it. Turned out is was bad gas. Might want to drain the tank and get gas somewhere else before spending money on parts. Worked for me.

see my cas is bolted on internally and externally but i will check over it try to adjust it and also check out my safc as well and make sure everything is at 0 and i will get back on here later and let yall know what is going on

ok i found a couple of problems. oil in my cas going to fix that with rtv, idle is kinda spuratic understandable but it to fall w few hundred rpm before it gets back to normal rpm, and my plugs were fualed out. couldnt change one due to the fact that it could possibly be cross threaded. is there a way to retap the spark plug hole wihile the head is still on the car. and is there a way to possibly fix any of these other discrepancies as well

dont think so it cleared up after i installed 3 new spark plugs. it kinda indles a bit rough. between 700-1000 rpm. it idles fine then falls to 850 or so i am going to check the iac and few other things as well. thanks

I am having the SAME EXACT problems with mine. My car is running SUPER rich and will barely hold idle. I suspect the MAF but wont know for sure till I get it later today. If its drivable get to an Autozone or somewhere where there is a scanner, might help narrow down the culprits. Let us know if you fix it or find out what the problem was.

i have been working on a project talon for quiet sometime now... finally got her all done... but when i hit about 3k rpm its sputtering.. and it seems to be making the same noise as if i let off the gas.. "blow off" it also kinda seems like it is being forced to do so... i had a small leak around my throttle body... and im not 100% for sure my vacuum hoses are corret... but its hard to know where to put it when the manual doesnt give diagrams... also... i was told maybe my wastegates stuck open/ shut... idk about that... and i dont really know what CAS or MAF would be located, im not knew to talons ... just a tsi.. haha

if your wastegate is stuck open/shut you will be either gettin ALOT of boost or NO boost at all. When i first got my Tsi it would sputter like that after about 4k rpm when i would hit about 6lbs of boost...all i had to do was replace the plugs and wires and i was fine. but if you say you replaced that then your spark should be fine so check fuel and air...start with the easiest things first such as fuel pressure and air intake make sure nothing is clogged or dirty
