just motor swapped and the car will not hold boost. With a press of the gass the stock turbo gauge will go up to about 7 and drop instant. Aftermarket boost gauge will not move. how do i do a easy book least test ?

jayrolla, have you not been on here long enough?, please stop telling people to "search", if you cant give anyone some real advice i suggest you dont give anything.

here is the correct information this guy will want.

also , does your car not move anyway when your trying to spool up?. cause i was just currently having that same problem where my turbo didnt want to spool up at all, the boost guage wanted to keep shooting back down to vacuum, it wasnt no boost leak, like everyone on here said it was, my timing was off, i suggest try to see if your timing is correct first, if you wanna take a shot at it heres how to: (note), your gonna need a timing light you can pick one up at autozone or your local auto parts store.

Just because you happened to find a problem that looked like a boost leak but wasn't doesn't mean everyone should switch to checking their timing instead and not do a boost leak test. Proposing bad timing is helpful, but please don't go around the board criticizing folks who propose a boost leak rather than timing. Just add your valuable information and experiences about bad timing and let others add theirs about boost leaks.:thumb:

And telling someone to search and not telling them anything else - like "Dude, this has been covered, do a search" is what they don't want on the forum. If I know that there is valuable information by doing searches on "boost leak tester" or "boost creep", that is helpful to folks. I help as much as I can on this forum, but I don't always have time to find the hyperlink to the specific thread. I'll suggest that they do a search on a few keywords for different things to find out more information on the issue, but that's not the same as just telling them to search without any other helpful information.

ok well if you dont have time to give someone better advice then dont even bother let someone that is more willing to help an inexpierenced dsmer with thier problems, also with that first paragraph you wrote im saying its not always a boost leak , also its not always a timing problem, it could be a bunch of different possibilities, saying do a boost leak test is a great solution to solve a problem and get it out of the way, im just suggesting you can also have the same kinda symptoms like a boost leak with a timing problem, just a suggestion not telling him its the problem..:nono:

I completely agree.:) Except that if I can help them out but it requires that they do their own research on a subject, I'm not going to do the research for them and provide all of the links to all of the threads that deal with PCV valves, but I'll tell them that there is info out there on the subject and that they should research it. I won't *just* say "search".

Anyway, I'm not helping this guy out, so I'm done.
