okay i know a few have been checking into my build.
420a
8:5:1 wiseco pistons
eagle rods
arp main and head studs
felpro mls headgasket
obx wires
‎234/238 cams stage 1
stock cam gears
gates timing belt
catch can
2.25 from turbo to fmic
2.5 from fmic to tb
hks bov
stage 5 hahn port fueler

wideband would run really rich then it would back down but still was rich


so today was start up day :D and i started it up and the boost gauge in van went from 10 to 0 then we revved up a little and it stayed at 13. before the build it was at 19 on idol and 23 in van while driving. i know i have a little exhaust leak on the waste gate but should it effect it that bad?(yes I'm going to fix it) and I'm thinking its since the ic pipes doing have a beaded edge and its a really sharp bend between the ic pipe and intercooler maybe? :confused:

Ok, I don't see in your mod list anything to tune the car to deal with the turbo. Also I am kind of drunk but I'm not sure what "23 in van while driving" means.
 
the hahn port fueler is what is tuned for the turbo. it adds 4 more injectors for when boost kicks on it turns those injectors on i think thats how it works. i just know its stage 5 calibrated and can handle up to 27psi but its going to get played with cause i changed stuff like ic pipes.

-and i ment 23 in vacuum. my macbook corrected it to van
 
With the larger cams your vacuum readings will go down a bit, as far as getting into boost an exhaust leak effect that as well. What are you tuning with? MS or another system?
 
Well, a change that severe in vacuum readings usually points to a vacuum/boost leak. And if it is something in tuning I can't help you since I have never seen a port fueler before.

alright thanks. and both surfaces are completely flat. i just emailed emery at stm to see maybe its the gasket they set over?

from what I've read it sounds pretty easy to tune. and i will get you a picture of it when its not raining out
 
Have you done a compression test? What about a boost leak test?

If not DO THEM NOW, If yes post results.

doing a boost leak once i get my tester back from my evo friend.

I know compression was good because i had the lower end built 3 months ago and i just wanted to make sure it was bonn handle boost so before i pulled it they were all good.

i narrowed it down last night and couldn't sleep I'm thinking its a boost leak and its a hard 90 into the fmic and the t-clamp i don't think can fully close it cause its on a weird angle

You don't know the compression is good until you check it yourself. You can assume the compression is good based on the build. However you never know, it is surprisingly common for fresh engines to have compression issues. Sometimes its just the timing, sometimes there are mistakes or errors made while building engines.

Just saying, it is worth a look. At least you can gain some piece of mind.

Sometimes it's just the timing?? Dude, do you spread misinformation everywhere you go? If the timing was off enough to cause compression to be low 1.) The car probably wouldn't run at all 2.) There would likely be zero compression, not low compression and 3.) You would know if the timing was off enough to cause compression issues because your valves would be bent. I think I'm going to check all your past posts for BS and make sure you haven't told anyone to add sand to their oil for extended engine life or something ridiculous.

the timing has been triple checked with the cams lined up perfect and the crank perfect. I'm pulling the waste gate to try and figure out that leak, then depending on how hard its raining gonna go after this boost leak. that what i think it is possibly. ill post up what it was after i test it
 
Based on everything you have been saying its leading me to believe you have a vacuum leak. I just had this problem for three days and I was banging my head cause of it my car would run like crap the idle was all over the place it hardly made it from point a to b. If your pulling unmeasured air in some where its going to give you a world problems

Essentially - Perform a boost leak test, fix any you find, and be happy. With more aggressive cams you will see less vacuum. Don't be surprised. Some people drop from the 18 area to the 10 area and lower with larger cams.

Yeah, not a surprise that you timing is good . I was just pointing out timing would definitely NOT cause this issue as AllShallPerish posted. Good luck with the testing.
 
update- threw out the last time i had posted. had it compression tested, its perfect, check. Then i had pressured my turbo inlet all the way to the tb, Well i found where it was leaking and pretty good i might add, pulled the pipes, made my own bead tool and went to town. luckily put everything back on and pressure tested and were good. Right now the car is at 10psi and spools around 2500-3500 and full boost at 4k and she boy does she go. will be turning it up slowly to make sure the tune is still good to 20psi. hope to have dyno time soon
