1G Car stalls when put into gear

Auto trans Idles solid at about 1500. Afrs are very close to target. When put into gear it will stall immediately. Only time it will continue to idle when shifted is if the throttle cable is pulled to idle at 2200+

Tried idling the car at about 1700,
Bumped igniton timing all the way up to 19.5. As it is adjusted up 1pt at time the idle tries to hang at 1000 when shifted but isn't able to.
Tps is set to .5v min 5v max.
This is not a cold issue, this is with engine at op temp.

All gears work, trans seems to work fine.

Are you using the IAC? Your idle can be screwed up if you dont monitor the position of it properly, i.e. I know in ECMlink (not sure about AEM) you can monitor the position of the valve itself to be sure that at your target idle the valve is close to centered.

If you are running with it deleted i'd wonder if something isnt up with the converter. There's only about a 100 RPM difference between park and drive on my car, when it's warmed up.

Iac is still on the car. I don't know that it can be monitored with aem.
I was able to get the car to stay running a bit longer by richening it up, I think this may be the problem.

Can base ignition timing be the problem?
