I've got a 93 Eagle Talon, 2.0 N/T automatic, and while driving down the street at 30 mph, the car just stalled. I've been having a problem where every once in a while once the engine warms up, the car will sputter if I hold the throttle at about 2,000 rpm. As soon as I give it a little more gas the sputtering goes away, but then it might happen again in a few minutes. Anyway, it was doing this and when I tried to give it a little gas, the car just shut off. It made a loud click inside the car when it did (ECU shutting off?) but it does this every time you shut the car off. Also, I have an air/fuel gauge and when the car sputters, it cycles between normal and all the way lean/no reading. When my car shut off, I got it to the side of the road and tried to start it again. The engine cranks strong but won't start. I've had kind of a sinking suspision that my fuel pump was going out, so I dropped my gas tank and changed that, but it still woudn't fire. I checked the plug wires for spark by taking an allen wrench and putting it into one of the plug wires and pressing that against the exhaust manifold to watch for spark, and none of the wires have spark. I'm going to bring a real spark tester over to it today just to make sure, but that method has always worked in the past. Does anyone have any sugguestions as to what could be the problem?

Recently I've replaced the IAC motor, power steering pump, belts, timing belt, balance shaft belt, plugs, wires, all regular fluid maintinence, and the battery. Some guy was trying to tell me that the crankshaft position sensor or the camshaft position sensor went out, but he didn't seem to be the most knoledgeable guy. I was going to check the power transistor and the fuel injection control relay, but I wouldn't think that would keep the coils from firing. The new fuel pump does turn on and there is gas going to the engine, just no spark. Oh yeah, the car has 76,000 miles on it, so still kind of low miles for a 93. I hope I've given enough information for someone out there to help me, seeing as my car is across town sitting in the stret and will probably get towed soon. Thanks in advance!

I had a problem with my 93n/t was turning over but wouldn't start. It was the CAS, "cam angle sensor." Replaced it and started right up.

It sounds a lot like the infamous capacitor leakage failure that effects all 1G ECU's.

Pull it out and open the case. Look around the three electrolytic capacitors in the center of the board for any discoloration or crusty buildup.

I opened up the ECU and all the capacitors looked fine, so I checked the CAS. It failed all the tests listed in the Chiltons so I picked a new one up from the junk yard. Put it in and it fixed the problem, the car started right up. Thanks for the help guys! Those things aren't cheap either, $80 from the junk yard and $430 new from Autozone. Thats more than a new ECU! Anyhoo, thanks for the help!
