Alright, so my car will only hit 5 pounds? I've checked for all leaks and holes in the couplers and found nothing, I've even messed with the boost controller. I'm running out of ideas of what it could be. Any ideas?

^ LOL

You can't just physically look for boost leaks (holes in couplers and such), you need to pressurize the system to properly complete a boost leak test.

internal, see thats another thing im thinking of changing is the aculator. would that help?

im not completey sure, ive never messed with interally wastegated turbos, but if everything else is reading fine there is probably something wrong with the wastegate, especially since you already said you checked your boost controller. I'd check it out.

well this is how it all started, i had my safc hooked up and my buddy intialized the safc and from there everything went down hill, car started stuttering and shutting off and wouldnt even make it to 3500rpm, well my buddy tried to get it close to a retarded tune using a wideband to watch the air/fuel ratio just so it would stay running and it worked but now 5 psi is all it will even hit.

Were there any boosting issues prior to the SAFC?

My bad, I just assumed since you had a low post count and just joined the site that you might not have known the correct way to do a boost leak test. Anyways, you must have an air compressor then. A simple test to ensure your wastegate actuator is functioning properly is to pressurize the wastegate actuator and watch for the arm on the wastegate to move. Give it a try so you can at least rule something out.

no, there were no boosting issues, it spooled fine and it would hit 16 psi easy but after the safc was intialized it just quit, but im going to try the wastegate test, ive never heard of that before, also another problem that started when all this mess started is the car doesnt want to even attempt to fire up on cold starts, like in the morning itll take nearly 30 minutes to fire up, its getting proper fuel and spark but ive heard the temp sensor could be a big issue on that, what is your opinion on that?

I'd maybe suggest a logger and look for incorrect numbers. Do you have Wide band o2 in the car ? if he messed with AFR ratios, then you should expect a ridiculous downhill in performance. Assume there were no issues with boosting before SAFC then its definitely something wrong with a retarded tune :). If you didn't find any boost leaks by sound, try soap water. One of my local guys told me to use it and damn i found like 3 leaks and they didn't make any noise either...

You'd probably be best off just pulling the safc off of the car. They are not an optimal tuning solution for these cars. Look into dsmlink or ecuflash if you want it done right.

well i used a psi guage and it never lost pressure, but ill try the soapy water, and we use a wideband with the o2 sensor to make sure we wouldnt detnate the motor with leaning it out, itll hit 5 pounds and stay there. no popping, cracking or hestitation, its just it wont go over 5 psi period even with turning up the boost on the controller side.

well i really want an ecuflash but im only running the safc until i can afford it. i just want the car drivable with out hurting it.

appply pressure, then you will know if diaphram is still good. even if you could by hand you wouldn't really know if it is fuctional.find spec so you don't apply too much and damage the diaphram. my 1G is max 12.4psi according to spec

If your only getting 5psi in the system then either you have a big boost leak or a bunch of small ones. Even if the safc was installed wrong or tuned horribly, it wont prevent you from building more than 5psi during a boost leak test. Same thing for your wastegate actuator. Even if its not holding the flapper shut completely that shouldn't prevent you from building more than 5psi during a blt.

Do a boost leak test again using a spray bottle full of soapy water. Spray everything. Turbo compressor housing, all intercooler piping couplers, intercooler, wastegate actuator, bov, fpr, your solenoids on the firewall, all vacuum hoses, injectors, intake manifold gasket area, throttle body gasket area, biss screw, throttle body shaft seals, remove the pvc valve and spray it.

The safc and the problems might have been just a coincidence. Your issue almost sounds like your cat or flex section on your downpipe collapsed. Probably not but if you run out of things to check it wouldn't hurt to take a peak.

why would you let your buddy initialize the afc because what that does is fully erase the unit so by doing that its like you dont even have the afc anymore im just trying to understand why he felt he needed to do that please fill me in not being a smartass just curious

I really don't think your s-afc had anything to do with your boosting problems, even if deductive logic appears points to the afc, it really doesn't. Unless the afc was adjusted so badly as to physically hinder your engine and make it not capable of spooling your 20g (i would find this hard to believe) past 5psi, then the afc is not your issue.

I would suggest running straight wastegate if you are currently running a boost controller. If that doesn't work then I would suggest doing another pressure test and monitor your wastegate actuator as you are applying pressure just to make sure it works.

I wouldn't. If the OP wasn't under the hood for anything what is the likely hood something else went bad? You adjusted the SAFC and now the car runs bad. Logic directly points to that as the problem.
The starting problem also points to this. Given what was already said about boost leaks a leak isn't your problem. Even if you had a teeny leak it wouldn't cause the large problems you're having.

The initializing part was an accident. But when ever it happened it just stop spooling the turbo. But before it was initialized I would spike to 20psi when I was set to 16 psi. Could that of been a problem to? But now that something has been mentioned my front mount has shown a little oil in between the fins if u give me a minute I'll show a photo of it.

Look closely at the FMIC and you'll see the oil. What's that caused from? It's a funny story as well, when I took this photo, is when I realized it was there.

Man, you have a gorgeous 2g. That orange colour is stunning.
I know the T-25 is a Garrett and my 14B is an MHI but.. After years and years of heat cycles the wastegate actually started to become off center. Eventually it shifted to the point where it didn't even cover the hole completely anymore. All I had to do to fix it was give it a couple whacks with a hammer untill it was seated back down in the turbo. Just a thought! :laser:
