I am using the 7es ngk plugs and all of them are red brown full of carbon deposits and cylinder # 4 has more carbon then the rest. According to my logger I am runing lean at part throttle and on the highway it goes so rich that I get 43 counts of phantom knock at under 20% throttle. at prety much all rpms. I have done a boost leak test and fixed some leaks but, no difference. I am only on stock injectors and I thought colder plugs would be good. If needed check my modlist. And they worked good for a long while. It just started getting all this phantom knock tonight and ran like crap all night. Richening or leaning has no effect on this knock. It was 32* tonight. Would it be wise to put in the stock 6es plugs? Also I have tried swaping coil packs, plug wires, plugs, injectors, to try and make plug # 4 not be carboned up more then the rest with no effect. The only thing I have not swaped is the igniter. Whould a bad igniter cause this? It also tries to die when coming to a stop or deceling. Please help.

I'm no AFC guru, but I can tell you that if you're on stock injectors, you should try resetting everything to zero (0) across the board since your stock injectors aren't worth trying to control. Don't worry about running this way with the 190 as you will not overrun the stock fuel pressure regulator.

Once you have everything set to zero, replace your plugs with the same ones (7ES) and make sure the gap is .028. Once the new plugs are in and the adjustment values are zeroed your problem should be taken care of with respect to fuel and spark. I would also get on those boost leaks as they will cause you to run rich and add to your issues.

Hope that helps!

The head won't really matter but the 2G MAF will need corrections applied across the board pretty much negating anything but it's better high-eng flow.

If you regularly fouling the 7's then go back to 6's. Doesn't sound like it, so put some fresh plugs in.

You need to start isolating the various problems one at a time.
Compression #?
Check ISC, IPS, Speed Sensor, and ECT to make sure you don't have some bad sensors.

Part throttle knock is fixed for the time being. I put in some 6es plugs and I guess after I fixed the boost leaks the car wanted to run richer than before. So I reset the ecu and leaned it out as much as possible for low throttle So I am gettin a little knock at wot now probably because of the plug change and it does not help that my boost won't stay where I set it. This d*** 32* weather! It does not creep, I just have to constantly adjust it when the weather changes.
long trims now sit at:
low 128%
mid 99.2%
high 101.5%

I hope you know that leaning out the low throttle settings doesn't really lean the car out. It just causes the fuel trims to move. As long as your in closed loop the ECU will seek 14.7:1 via the feedback from the 02 sensor. If you dial in less fuel the ECU will just add it back via the trim settings. It's only in open loop that you have any control over the A/F.

Ya, but before my trims were alot lower and the computer was taking away fuel. Plus my timing has to be better right because there is less corection? Apearently it could not take away enouph fuel before because of me getting phantom knock and the plugs being fouled out right? Just let me know if I am making sence. Thanks.
