Well my car stopped shifting a little bit ago so I dropped the transmission to find the 5 out of the 6 springs in my fidanza 4.3 clutch had come out. Fidanza sent me a new clutch and flywheel. I installed everything. Pivot ball and clutch fork appeared to be fine and a new TOB was installed.

Well it still doesn't shift

NEW clutch
NEW mater cylinder
Slave moves and appears fine

I have no idea why the car will not go into gear.

The car shifts fine when the car is off.

A few thoughts off the top of my head...

1. Springs that came out hosed something
3. Shift cable adjustment at the tranny
2. Clutch isn't engaging:

a). Clutch adjustment at the pedal (although the slave rod probably wouldn't look ok as you said)
b). Improperly stepped flywheel (you did check it right?)
c). TOB installed incorrectly

Its not an adjustment issue,
flywheel is fine, i have the fidanza flywheel and clutch combo it should be fine. I'm thinking the clutch cables might be at fault. I'm going to check it later today. I know TOB is installed correctly as well.

There are no 'clutch cables'. They use a hydraulic clutch system. Either it's adjusted wrong, has a leak, your fork is bent or needed to be spaced out, or you put the clutch in backwards.

Look by the clutch fork and have someone push the pedal down; make sure it moves and that it's not bottoming out on the bellhousing.

If you start it in gear does the car try to roll or kill the engine?

Probably need to space the clutch fork ball out a little as with most aftermarket kits.

I would say bleed it! Just bleed it! haha no but seriously if its not properly bled then that could be the problem. Also, I would try puting it into first then trying to start it. You would be able to tell if your clutch is engaging or not.

I can put it into any gear and start is no problem. The clutch fork is not bent, I inspected it when the tranny was out. I'm thinking the pivot ball may need to be spaced out with a washer (although I really don't want to drop the transmission AGAIN). I have also bled the system for what seemed like hours, I'm going to bleed it one more time today and see where that takes me. This is just weird though I had the same clutch kit/flywheel combo in the car before without any issues.

try to adjust the clutch cable. I actually just resolved an issue like this on mine

There is no such thing as a clutch cable for our cars and the shift linkage cables are not adjustable in a 2g. Someone mis-spoke somewhere.

When you put the car in gear when its off, can you start it with the clutch down and does it go anywhere? What is the engagement characteristic like?

Have someone sit in the driver seat for you and press on the clutch. Look at the slave push on the fork and see if it moves all the way. It sounds like you're not disengaging 100%. There's a video on youtube from Jacks transmissions that explains how to properly adjust the clutch system. Make sure it is also bleed properly and good. Did you bench bleed he master?

i had a similar problem...but there was a small cut in my slave lines...and fluid leaked out...you couldnt even notice there being a cut but there was...got new line and it solved the problem...

when the car is off and I put it in gear and turn it on with my foot on the clutch it does NOT go anywhere, it engages almost at the floor.

it engages almost at the floor.

Thats the issue - its not completely disengaging the clutch. If you KNOW the clutch and flywheel are properly installed, the clutch fork & tob ARE good, and there's no air or leaks in the clutch system, then -
1. You should start off by adjusting the clutch (follow the vid Morpherex posted above)
2. If its not fixed by doing that then you'll need to drop the tranny again (sorry - I know it sucks) and shim the pivot ball.
