Car idle at 500 rpm and vibrateing alot

I'm driving a 97 talon N/T and when i start it in the morning it idles at 1k rpm then slowly drops to 500 rpm and starts vibrateing what's going on??????
 
same thing's happening to me in my 98 gst.
checked the alternator,
changed belts, grounds, battery and plugs/wires.
tomorrow i'm going to switch out the coil and see if that does it.
other than that i'm at a loss too. :confused:
 
Also sometimes it tends to get an idle surge and the car idle drops to around 50-100 rpm
and raises to 500 or so. :(
 
what's a CEL? and what about the fuel pressure could be messing up the injectors or fuel pump because if I run the car hard it will start to stall at random.. :mad:
 
I had the same exact problem with my dodge avenger, which has the same 420a engine that you do. I used a can of throttle body cleaner and I haven't had a problem since. Just take off the intake hose, manually give the engine gas by turning the throttle valve while spraying so the engine doesn't die.

I've done that I actully just did that the other day but it's stalling my problem sence i've had the car and I took it to a mechanic and he said it was because the throtle body was all black and gumed up. So they cleaned it the problem went alway for a day and started back up and the cleaner had done nothing yet to this point I'll post if anything else happens. :mad:
 
my guess is they did a bad job cleaning the TB or the throttle cable is shot.

Seeing that the problem went away for a DAY pretty much means it has something to do with the TB/throttle cable IMO

agreed, if it went away then more than likely thats the problem. and CEL = Check Engine Light
