So i recently rebuilt my car and waiting to get it inspected, i drove it down the road and was perfectly fine, stopped and got some gas 93 octane. Driving back the car started hesitating when given gas. after maybe 20 seconds of hesitation the turbo would kick in and the hesitation was gone, but this would happen everytime i was at a stop. I know my timing isnt completely perfect but its pretty close, also had this problem and changed the isc from the parts car worked for a bit, then this problem came back again after say maybe running it 2-3 times, this the only time actually driven on the road since its been finished. Any suggestions?

My timing jumps, have to go to a shop and get it done properly. Also i just put brand new kv85 wires and ngk plugs, i have to check the coil pack and boost leak

check the gap of your plugs. have them gap correctly. i gap mines at .028 and running 17lbs boost on my evo3 16g. check your wideband if you have one. wideband can tell alot of things if your running rich or lean. last thing to do is a boost leak. good luck

Stop driving the car until you get the timing belt tensioned properly. Do you know what happens when the timing is off a few teeth? It will destroy the valves.

first thing you need to do is get that timing fixed asap. i wouldnt drive it till its fixed, even to the shop if u cant set it correctly.

also make sure you do a BLT, do u have a aftermarket boost gauge?(dont see it on your mods list) something u shuld also get if u dont have.

my 1g did the same thing... though i never had a problem with timing... my mas airflow sensor was bad... so if ## timeing ends of being ok... i would check that aswell

They are gapped at .030 according to road race engineering because i am running under 16 lbs of boost.

I dont have my aftermarket boost gauge currently hooked up first thing ill do is get that in working properly and do the BLT tomorow, then i will get my timing fixed as well and see if those could be the problems

Hating to ask the obvious question, but there was no mention of a CEL and no one asked if there were one?

It happened to me that ONLY once my CEL was burned out and I was trying to diagnose an issue. After analyzing the symptoms, figured it had to be a TPS but then figured it could not be the TPS because there was no CEL. Then I noticed when I started the car...one of the 10,000 lights that usually come on, only 9,999 were on and the CEL did not come on.

BUT if the CEL is not burned out and there is no CEL, by deduction you can rule out anything that WOULD cause a CEL, so that narrows it down as you will not have to check those components.

Sorry to drag on...any CEL?

Problem is fixed! I did the boost leak test and there was a slight leak by the throttle body, fixed that but still didnt fix the problem. I then bought a new ISC sensor because that was a problem before and it fixed the hesitation. I am taking the car to mitsubishi tomorrow to get the timing done and then it should be running great. Do ISC sensors fail very often? I had a new one for about a year and 8 months and it went bad.
