when I am driving down the highway my car will start to heat up to like the 3/4 part of the temp guage but when I slow down to around town speeds or at idle it goes back to the usual 1/2 way point. I have checked the thermostat and that is fine.

get off the gas leadfoot.
Wow awesome answer

Is there any blockage in the front air dam/in front of the radiator? Coolant level ok? When was it flushed last? Is the a/c on? Does it have a FMIC?

its has an fmic. coolant is ok. brand new radiator. it cools a little with ac on but when its off it still heats way up at higher speeds.

how big is the core? With the weather getting hotter the FMIC can really block flow to the radiator. When you turn on the a/c the a/c fan comes on so it can possibly cool it down a bit more, but usually a/c heats things up more. What kind of ducting are you running to the radiator once it leaves the intercooler? Still on the stock fans too?

The core is like 10" tall, still on stock fans. and I dont know what you mean by the ducting running to the radiator once it leaves the intercooler.

i had the same problem (heating up on the highway, but cool at idle) but then again i have an N/T so what do i know?
I judt flushed the radiator and my car has been fine ever since. :thumb: Good luck!

Shrouding the area between the IC and the Radiator forces any air that goes through the IC into the radiator. It increases the amount of cool air your radiator will see.

Napkinthief, I think you should put a little more thought into your posts. :|

When did this problem start? Did you install/add anything new to your DSM before you started to notice this problem.

If it is a new radiator i see no need to flush it because your probably already did something like that.

You said you have a FMIC, and an AC condenser, and probably a oil cooling line too. (mine has one)

Now if the fines in those are bent (FMIC+A/C Condenser+oil cooling) then that could be a big air block before it ever gets to your radiator. And even if there is no smashed areas you still have a lot of rows of hot fines disbursing the air in diffrent directions so by the time your radiator receives air flow it is week, and hot.

Before you go spending money try inspecting those cooling units.

It is starting to get hotter, and as Summer comes it is only going to get worse.

im sry my friend posted that, and its the only time theres been a post like that from my name so i think it can be ignored. thanks

and here is my help, even though this happened to my n/t

do the fans turn on when ur driving? mine didn;t for a while becuase one of the wires was corroded, check those, i replaced them and my temp guage stopped going up for a bit, but then again my car overheated 2 weeks later and seized then engine
