Toronto,
Hi guyz, since last week i am having a trouble starting my car...... When i turn the key to start my car, i hear like a click click sound and everything just shuts off(gauge lights, turbo timer, deck etc) as the car seems to be dying;the car doesn't start and at the same time the alarm also goes off but the alarm sound can be shut off if i use the alarm controller. But every single time, when i try to start my car, the alarm goes off.... On the other hand, when i give her a jump start, the car starts easily and there is no alarm sounds... While driving, the car is running fine but it dies at some points as the rpm drops down to 0....... It might be my battery or alternator but I dont get why does my alarm sounds when i try to start my car...... I have an aftermarket viper alarm....any suggestions?

Thanks

It definately sounds like your batter and or\alt.....

sounds like the exact symptoms of your battery being completely dead....the sounds\lights\accesories shutting down, and going out....and for the alarm going off part....alot of alarms are pre-programmed inside themselves, that when the battery goes dead to auto-arm...thus causing the alarm to go off when you try to start the car(it thinks someone is stealing it). You can still shut it off with the Alarm Controller because the alarm does not use much power, even on a dead battery....

same thing happened on my 92 talon

sorry about the long post...just tried to explain...

Take the battery in for a free test as schucks ect. ect.... If it holds charge then I would guess you have a bad alt. My guess is the ALT. Hope its the battery though... A lot of alarms supposedly have built in battery's also, so they will work without car power in case your power was cut.

hate to be beating a dead horse but chuck your battery on a charger for a few hours start it after you remove the charger if it fires right up good thing, then your alarm shouldnt go off. shut it off let it sit for a while try and start it later if it seems harder to start the 2nd time around you either have a leak or your battery aint charging. also dumb question but did you leave the lights on for a while then this happened?

Happened to me....It was a BAD gorund connection at the battery post and on the firewall. Both battery clamp and bolt holding lug on firewall were loose. So check your grounding situation
